Massage and Reflexology services in Farnham

Dorothy Metter is our resident massage therapist and reflexologist. She is a naturally gifted practitioner with over 10 years of experience.

Massage is an ancient art of soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) manipulation. At Farnham Chiropractic Wellness Centre Dorothy provides ‘Deep Tissue Massage’. This is designed to remove adhesions (like scar tissue) in the muscle to improve efficiency in muscle contraction, reduce pain and inflammation in the soft tissues, and promote healing by improving circulation.

So if you have tight muscles from desk work or day to day stress, or if you have an acute sports or gardening injury, there is a very good chance that massage will be beneficial to you.

Reflexology was first used by the ancient Egyptians and was spread to the rest of the world via the Roman Empire. Reflexologists apply pressure and massage to specific reflex points on the feet. Different points relate to different parts of the body and a therapeutic effect can be gained by releasing these zones of tension.

Dorothy has specialised in ‘Adaptive Reflexology’ which is specifically designed to help spinal issues. Although this is a rather different approach to medicine’s mainstream approach of drug and surgery, Reflexology can be very helpful with very little side-effects.

Kinesiology is a language which enables us to communicate with the body. By muscle testing we can determine how the muscle or organ is functioning. The society we live in has many and varied challenges for us to cope with; varying stress, the types of food that we eat and drink, the amount we choose to exercise, these can affect us mentally, physically, chemically and emotionally.

Kinesiology incorporates the best of the East and West and is based on the principle that energy runs through the body in channels known as meridians. If there is an energy blockage or if it is imbalanced that can affect our health and wellbeing. When muscles are tested they respond against a backdrop of the whole being. If someone is mentally upset, chemically out of balance, structurally out of line, or their energies are disturbed, the tested muscle may switch off, which it would indicate by testing weak and not ‘locking’. Similarly, muscles can be tested to establish which system needs balancing first.

Techniques that may be used include lymphatic work, meridian flushing, neurovascular points, adding in supplements, testing for food sensitivities, use of Bach remedies and essential oils.

Kinesiology is a gentle but powerful therapy which deals with a wide range of issues

What our Clients say

"Having had several years of chronic back and neck pain, after receiving treatment I generally feel freer of pain – more flexible, less stiff and now have coping strategies if pain occurs in between visits. Chiropractic care has freed up my back so I’m better able to play sport. I suffer less pain when undertaking my sedentary job. Everyone is very friendly and I know that when I leave I will feel better than when I arrived. Since coming to see Grant, I feel much more positive about my back health – now and in the future."
