Massage and Reflexology services in Farnham
Relaxation Massage
Dorothy Metter is our resident massage therapist and reflexologist. She is a naturally gifted practitioner with over 10 years of experience.
Massage is an ancient art of soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) manipulation. At Farnham Chiropractic Wellness Centre Dorothy provides ‘Deep Tissue Massage’. This is designed to remove adhesions (like scar tissue) in the muscle to improve efficiency in muscle contraction, reduce pain and inflammation in the soft tissues, and promote healing by improving circulation.
So if you have tight muscles from desk work or day to day stress, or if you have an acute sports or gardening injury, there is a very good chance that massage will be beneficial to you.
Remedial Sports Massage
Gerado is our Sports massage Therapist. Gerado studied at the North London Schools of Sports Massage, where he graduated in 2017 with a BTEC L5.
Sports massage is a hands on treatment used to relieve tension in muscles and connective tissue, due to excessive physical activity or muscle imbalance.
To the standard techniques used in Sports & Remedial Massage, Gerardo also adds elements from Thai massage for stretching and mobilisation and functional neurology testing.
Reflexology
Reflexology was first used by the ancient Egyptians and was spread to the rest of the world via the Roman Empire. Reflexologists apply pressure and massage to specific reflex points on the feet. Different points relate to different parts of the body and a therapeutic effect can be gained by releasing these zones of tension.
Dorothy has specialised in ‘Adaptive Reflexology’ which is specifically designed to help spinal issues. Although this is a rather different approach to medicine’s mainstream approach of drug and surgery, Reflexology can be very helpful with very little side-effects.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology is about bringing the body into balance from a structural/physical, nutritional, emotional and energic perspective. Through muscle testing we ask the body what is going on by using its subtle energetic bio feedback system. This will highlight any imbalances. The principle is that we have channels of energy running through our bodies, known as meridians, if there are any blockages or if they are imbalanced it may affect our health and wellbeing. As the body heals in its own priority -regardless of what we may feel needs to be done! we will always ask if the weakness that we have uncovered is the actual priority that the body wants to work on. Our bodies have an innate ability to heal, Kinesiology stimulates that healing process and balances the body.
Kinesiology is a non-invasive holistic treatment, which combines the use of nutrition, (which may include removing certain foods from your diet or using supplementation) essential oils, Bach remedies, clearing lymphatics, stimulating acupressure points, flushing meridians and clearing emotional blockages to bring the body into balance.
