What to Expect During Your New Patient Appointment

Chriopractic Spine drawing

If you have never seen a chiropractor before, you might be feeling a little anxious or curious as to what to expect. Carry on reading so that we can (hopefully!) put your mind at ease.

1. History Taking

We start with a thorough exploration of your completed health questionnaires so that we can really get to know you. We will look at:

  • What’s been going on with your body
  • When it started
  • What makes it better or worse
  • How it affects your daily life
  • Your health history
  • Your health goals

2. A Comprehensive Assessment

Your chiropractor will then carry out a detailed assessment, this may include:

Posture & Movement Analysis

We observe how you move, how your joints function, and how your spine behaves in different positions. This includes a full postural analysis.

Palpation + Muscle Testing

This is where your chiropractor gently assesses the spine and surrounding muscles by hand. We’re looking for areas of tension, restriction, or imbalance. Muscle testing is what makes our chiropractors special. Have a read of our FAQ blog to find out more!

Subluxation Scans

These are specialist scans used by some chiropractors, which combine Heart Rate Variability, Surface Electromyography, and Thermal Imaging to assess nerve function and detect spinal "abnormalities”

InBody Analysis

This is a body composition scan, giving you insights into your muscle mass, visceral fat levels and BMI.

3. Report of Findings

After your Initial Assessment, you come back in for your report. This is where we go through:

  • What we’ve found
  • What it means
  • How we can help
  • What your role is in the process
  • Care Plan + Treatment Timeline
  • Pricing

4. Your First Treatment

If it’s appropriate and you’re happy to go ahead, we often begin treatment in your Report visit.

Treatment may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustment
  • Gentle mobilisation
  • Soft tissue techniques
  • Muscle work
  • Stretches
  • Lifestyle or ergonomic advice

A chiropractic adjustment should never feel scary. If you are nervous, please talk to any member of the team and we can put procedures in place to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

5. Clear Next Steps

You’ll leave with:

  • A clear understanding of your condition
  • Practical advice you can use immediately
  • A personalised plan for your upcoming visits
  • Confidence that you’re supported

Our goal is to help you get back to moving, working, sleeping, and living with less discomfort and more ease.
